Bushikori

The picture above is myself with Lyn, Emma and Annie at the Duffield's kitchen table - Suze used the flash on the camera but you can see we have a lantern on the table because last night was a power off night. I am sure it gets tiring living here and trying to keep food fresh, and living your life around the times that you can use lights, heat water, cook your food etc. but it is still a novelty for us and I think it is going to be kind of cool to spend every 2nd night by candle and lantern light!!
I might get tried of it when I want to post on this but Lyn and John also have a generator that gets used sparingly (petrol is $2 a litre here!!) so I am sure that there will be more than enough oppourtunities - could be a God-send for you all really because it will stop me boring you too much!
Suze and I are settled in, we have a nice room to ourselves and are sleeping under mosquito nets (another thing like the laterns that helps to make the whole experience more romantic and 'real'). The Duffield girls Emma and Annie are full of beans always wanting to play - they are such vibrant little girls and Emma has the funniest American accent - she has only been attending the American school here in Mbale for a few weeks but she already sounds like she's grown up in Jersey! Any word with an 'A' in it is repeated over and over - like Annie and can't. Annie is much quiter but John and Lyn insist that will not last for long as she gets to know us, she seems like a real thinker and was doing beautiful colouring with us last night.

Tomorrow is our first day seeing BCC, I am not sure what I am expecting. John told us when we went out for lunch today that we will be celebrities when we arrrive and that the kids will swarm all over us. I am really excited to meet all the children at the Joshua School - it's been so long planning to get here.
I forgot to tell you, I had some good luck with my excess bagage - SA Airways let me have 20 extra kilos above the limit which meant I only had to pay for 15kg - then I got them to check my baggage all the way through to Entebbe so I only had to pay the excess as far as Nairobi. So it all worked out pretty well.
When I speak to you next I will have been out to Bushikori - can't wait. Lib

hi girls
this is great being able to communicate with you so quickly and well. Thanks for the beaut picture Suze. We are relieved to know that the 2 of you are safely there now with Lyn and John and the 2 wee girls.
How good is that about the excess baggage Lib? I know I've said it before.. but I'll say it again..there are more things accomplished by prayer than this world dreams of!!
Milly did the requested shopping this a.m. and I have posted it in 2 separate parcels, hopefully cleverly disguised as 2 fat and newsy letters, so as to discourage pilfering!
The calendar is in the pipeline, but hopefully I shall have some more definite news for you later in the week.
I've just had a phonecall from Ella M saying that she spoke to you last night for a while Lib. She has given me the Matheson's numbers so we will probably try to ring you in the next few days.
We do hope that everything is going wonderfully. Can't wait to hear accounts of some of your experiences and meetings with the children. Look after each other won't you. Give each other a hug and kiss from me and then another one from Dad... [the second one should be more whiskery than the first] We love you both heaps and are so thrilled that you are sharing this experience together. Lots of love

Hello again girls.
How has your day been? Things are great here. I have just come home from school with the news that the school is going to subsidise the printing of the calendars. We can use their photocopier, so our only expense is going to be the paper which should come out under $500 I think. If we sell 500 calendars.... well, you do the maths. How good would that be? Start taking photos girls!!
Kate Hehir has been trying to get onto the blog today but it's apparently blocked [or should that be blogged?]at present. She has one of the computer guys onto it though and hopefully we should be able to access it at school shortly.
Suze we received your letter from New York this afternoon. Thankyou. It's so exciting whenever there's something in the mail from you. You must be rapt that you and Lib are finally together. Look after each other and keep safe.
Lots of love
Mum.

Hey What's going on?

My name is Will and I am living with Anne, the director of the BCC. Emma and Annie are amazing. I laugh, however, because I think Emma has such a purely Australian accent. Anyways, some of my friends from the states meet up at Mbale Resort Hotel on Sundays to enjoy the pool. Hope to see you there.

hey guys,
I love getting on and seeing what you are doing. Can't wait to hear about your interactions with everyone at BCC.
Hope that you are both enjoying the short time that you have been there.
I spoke to Lisa Sullivan today and she sends her love.
I have sent the blog address around to some people at school and they are keen to see all that you are up to.
Lots of love and thinking of you constantly.
hugs and kisses Jean xoxo
